Abstract Landscapes

Abstract Landscapes with Clare Purser - This workshop will focus on combining painting and mixed media to construct a landscape.  We will explore how paintings can be layered by using painting, drawing, experimental mark making, collage and glazing to create images with depth and meaning. Through a series of experimental exercises, we will explore a range of mixed-media, including acrylic paint, dry media, gelli prints and collage. For inspiration, we will look to artists such as Joan Eardley, David Mankin & Alfred Wallis. By examining their methods, we will discover new ways to integrate their techniques into our paintings. We will explore a range of exercises to loosen up, followed by longer studies on a variety of collaged surfaces.  This workshop will give you confidence to experiment with different paint methods and learn how different surfaces can inspire you to try different approaches.
