Begin by making a plant-based dye vat to create a range of organic tones on paper, then experiment with synthetic dye baths. Using your hand-dyed papers, you’ll learn monoprinting techniques with natural materials and water-based inks. To begin printing we prepare natural plant materials on a glass plate, then using a roller and water-based printing ink, cover the plant and press it by hand onto a selection of dyed paper. Stephen will guide you through drawing methods to enhance your prints and develop them into finished works with artistic depth and purpose. Suitable for all skill levels.
